A Little History About Ancaster

Ancaster, Ontario is a small Town located West Of Hamilton. The town of Ancaster was incorporated in 1974 and in 2001 Ancaster was merged into the city of Hamilton. A man named Augustus Jones, which was the surveyor of the town, created the name of “Ancaster” in 1793. The history of Ancaster goes back over 200 years and was originally found in Lincolnshire, England. The name Ancaster was given to the town after a military camp from the Roman Times based off the Latin word “castra” meaning camp. Ancaster is now home of several historic sites. One historic site being the Griffin House that named a National historic Site in 2008. The Griffin house represents the brave men and women who travelled the under ground railway in the 19th century.

How to Load the Bin

When loading the Bin we recommend that taking your time to strategize the placement of the items to make sure all you garbage fits. We recommend loading all the heavier items towards the front of the bin so the weight inside the bin gets distributed evenly. When your almost done filling up the bin make sure to leave enough room so the double barn doors close properly and also to make sure nothing is sticking up past the top of the bin. Nothing shall be sticking up past our “FILL LINE” stickers that are placed on both sides of the bin and the back. Result of an overloaded bin may mean that the driver will be unable to take the bin away in a safe manner and will leave the bin on site until its loaded properly and safely to be taken away. Which would result in an extra fee of $75.00.
