A Little History About Caledonia

Caledonia is located at the intersection of Highway 6 and Haldimand Highway 54. On Highway 6, Caledonia is 10km south of Hamilton and 10km north of Hagersville. On Haldimand Highway 54, the town is 15km east of Brantford ON and 10km west of Cayuga ON. Caledonia was incorporated as a village in 1844 and later recognized as a town. In 1974, the own was amalgamated into Haldimand-Norfolk. Although Caledonia is the largest community in Haldimand, the corridor was located in Cayuga. In 2001, Haldimand and Norfolk were divided and all other municipalities were dissolved. They were split into two single tier municipalities. Caledonia is now an unincorporated community. In 2006, there was a huge land dispute about the Grand River, which brought a lot of attention to Caledonia. The land at was in dispute in Caledonia covered over 40 hectares of land. The dispute was about turning the land into residential subdivisions however; the Six Nations still maintain the title to the land.

All of our bins have double barn doors so you can walk right inside for easy loading and come equipped with driveway friendly rollers and wood boards to make sure your driveway stays protected.

How to Load the Bin

When loading the Bin we recommend that taking your time to strategize the placement of the items to make sure all you garbage fits. We recommend loading all the heavier items towards the front of the bin so the weight inside the bin gets distributed evenly. When your almost done filling up the bin make sure to leave enough room so the double barn doors close properly and also to make sure nothing is sticking up past the top of the bin. Nothing shall be sticking up past our “FILL LINE” stickers that are placed on both sides of the bin and the back. Result of an overloaded bin may mean that the driver will be unable to take the bin away in a safe manner and will leave the bin on site until its loaded properly and safely to be taken away. Which would result in an extra fee of $75.00.
